PRIVATE LESSONS
Santoro Piano Studio is defined by a standard of excellence in performance instruction. Private lessons are 1 hour weekly for all ages and levels. Performance masterclasses are held weekly Fridays at 5 p.m. October through April and are complimentary to all students enrolled in practical lessons. Students are expected to attend scheduled masterclasses regularly.
To succeed in this studio, students, along with their parents/guardians, must be willing to foster the necessary work ethic at home in support of direction provided in weekly lessons. Students who are overcommitted to other extra-curricular activities which prohibit significant time given to the piano should consider studies elsewhere.
Private piano lessons and masterclasses will address the following areas of musicianship:
Technique: Use of the body, forearm, and wrist in support of finger dexterity, tone production, and touch
Ear Training: Developing active listening skills and technical vocabulary needed to effectively describe musical events and patterns
Theory: Facility in identifying, analyzing, and writing music as it pertains to pianistic approach and performance practice
Artistry: Fostering interpretation strategies appropriate to genre and historical style period
Performance: A practiced skill in its own right, instilling values of professionalism and confidence in public presentation
Nadia Santoro made her debut with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra as First Pianist in Saint-Saëns's The Carnival of the Animals under the baton of Maestro Robert Franz. Santoro completed her Honours Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the University of Windsor where she pursued advanced piano studies under Dr. E. Gregory Butler.
